Sleeping Giants (2025)

These trees lie in a narrow strip of woodland bordering the nuclear warhead storage and loading facility RNAD Coulport. The woods were sold by the M.O.D to Georgina Smith, a Scottish artist and activist, in the 1990s. For a time it became a temporary settlement and site for the pursuit of collective action.

These trees are fallen but they are alive, still connected to the earth and growing.  Their cross sections display an arterial root system, sinewy and flesh-like, the musculature of an extant and defiant body.
